Trust & verification

How we vet organizations

Before any nonprofit appears on Gively, we check it against official records so you can give with confidence. Here's exactly what that means.

  1. 1. IRS 501(c)(3) verification

We confirm each organization holds active tax-exempt status in the IRS Exempt Organizations database using its EIN before it can be listed.

  2. 2. Public financial filings

We review each org's most recent IRS Form 990 and public financial statements to understand how donations are spent across programs, administration, and fundraising.

  3. 3. Transparency scoring

We summarize the numbers into plain-language transparency indicators — like the share of every dollar that reaches programs — so you don't need a finance background to judge reliability.

  4. 4. Ongoing review

Listings are periodically re-checked against updated filings, and organizations that lose tax-exempt status or stop reporting are removed.

A note on the data you see

Financial figures shown across Gively are currently illustrative estimates for demonstration. They are structured to be replaced field-for-field with live data from IRS filings and public financial sources.
